We do not collect any personal information. PaletteFrame does not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or share any personally identifiable information.

Video Files and Data

All video processing happens locally on your device. Specifically:

  • Video files remain on your device: Videos you import are never uploaded to our servers or any third-party services.
  • Local processing only: All frame extraction, color analysis, and export generation occurs entirely on your Mac.
  • No cloud storage: We do not store, backup, or access your video files or generated exports.
  • Temporary files: The app may create temporary files during processing, which are automatically deleted when you close the app or complete an export.

Usage Analytics

We do not collect usage analytics or telemetry data. PaletteFrame does not track:

  • What videos you process
  • How often you use the app
  • Which features you use
  • Crash reports or error logs

Network Activity

PaletteFrame does not communicate with the internet. The app operates entirely offline and does not:

  • Send data to external servers
  • Check for updates automatically
  • Download remote content
  • Use third-party analytics services

Data Storage

Application Data

PaletteFrame stores minimal data on your device:

  • User Preferences: App settings and export configurations are stored locally in your macOS user preferences.
  • Exported Files: PNG exports you create are saved to locations you choose (typically your Pictures folder).
  • No Hidden Data: We do not create hidden databases or collect information in the background.

File Access Permissions

PaletteFrame requests the following macOS permissions to function:

  • File Access: Read-only access to video files you explicitly select or drag into the app.
  • Save Dialog: Permission to save exported PNG files to locations you choose.
  • Notifications: Optional permission to show completion notifications when exports finish.

These permissions are handled through macOS's sandboxed environment. We cannot access files outside of what you explicitly provide.

Third-Party Software

FFmpeg

PaletteFrame uses FFmpeg libraries for video decoding. FFmpeg runs entirely locally on your device and does not transmit any data externally. FFmpeg is licensed under the LGPLv3 license.

No Third-Party Services

We do not use:

  • Analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
  • Crash reporting services (Sentry, Crashlytics, etc.)
  • Advertising networks
  • Social media integrations
  • Cloud storage providers

Children's Privacy

PaletteFrame does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app is safe for all ages.

Data Security

Since PaletteFrame processes everything locally and does not collect or transmit data:

  • Your video files never leave your device
  • There is no risk of data breaches or unauthorized access to our servers (we don't have any)
  • Your privacy is protected by macOS's built-in security features

Your Rights
